Module pages often have Panopto categories listed on Canvas, however, very few lecturers utilize Panopto and the small minority that do either forget or cannot due to technical problems. This is especially significant in the STEM degrees, where very few students have actually had Panopto recordings during lectures. Many of the same students have resorted to using software on their smartphones to record lectures, placing them on the front desk in the theater, which results in a stressful and chaotic panic to grab your phone after the lecture has finished.

Lists or notifications need to be sent out for each module regarding whether the staff intend to use the software and staff that do intend to use Panopto need to understand how to use it correctly. Otherwise, what is the point of this resource if it isn't used?

This year I have been working hard to push the idea of lecture recordings. With hope, in the upcoming academic year lecture recordings will be used as standard across campus by all academics.
