We are pleased to share with you that the University of Hull has committed to spend £4.5 million on Student Central (formally University House) over the next two years.
Student Central will be renovated to ensure it continutes to meet the needs to students creating a modern, flexible space to study, relax and meet friends at heart of campus.
Feedback from students’ is really important and to ensure your thoughts and ideas on the renovation are captured, consultation will begin later this year, including a student survey, workshops and drop-in sessions.
Hull University Union President, Osaro Otobo said:
“Our vision is to create a vibrant union building that meets the needs of all students. The team and I are committed to working with our members and the University to develop a space that is truly fit for purpose, future-proof and that helps you connect with one another.”
Stephen Willis, University of Hull Chief Finance Officer, said:
“This is a significant investment in Student Central and one which will have a big impact on the student experience here at the University of Hull.”
Hull University Union services are currently located on the ground and first floor of Students Central. The University’s Ask HU desk can be found on the second floor and Careers and Employability Service use the third floor. Bookable meeting rooms for students are located across the top two floors.
Our current footprint within the building has developed over time with the main building opened in 1972 and the external staircase and our nightclub, Asylum constructed as part of the Millennium project completed in 2002. A Membership Services space on the first floor was opened in 2012 followed by ground floor refurbishments to improve our services over the last two summers.
