HUU's WelcomeFest top tips
Get WelcomeFest ready!
You’ve applied for a place at University of Hull and regardless of exam results, you can make a start on the all-important preparations for the next stage in life.
Set aside some time between now and September to get ‘uni-ready’. If you get that all-important acceptance letter you want to be assembling the final parts of the jigsaw rather than assembling it from scratch!
Buy a Diary to mark important dates. There’s going to be a lot of things to remember and get sorted so it will help keep you organised and on track.
You don’t have to wait until your acceptance letter to read up on your University of choice! There’s lots of information on the University of Hull website to familiarise yourself with the campus including the student accommodation on offer.
Follow /hullstudent on facebook and join the ‘University of Hull Official WelcomeFest 2017’ event on facebook to ensure you get the latest news. Beware other ‘Freshers’ groups – this is the only OFFICIAL University of Hull event.
Sign up for a student bank account if you haven’t already. Even If you don’t want the overdraft facility some of the incentives are worth a look. MoneySavingExpert is a good way to compare accounts.
Although its really early days, start to think about your budget in September. Remember your loan will not reach your account until you have registered (usually in your first week at uni) so you need to save some money to cover the first week or so.
Find out more about your Students’ Union. Have a good look round the Hull student website to get an understanding of what it provides. From August you can get all the info in your pocket with the free WelcomeFest app.
Whether you’ve got an existing hobby or interest or are planning on taking up something new at Uni, check out the full list of sports teams, societies and opportunities here. Join their facebook groups for more info so you know which stands you will be making a beeline for at our WelcomeFest Fairs!
