Welfare Homepage

Welcome to the Welfare Zone. Here we have everything you need to be safe, and sound of mind. Ensuring your university life is a relatively stress free three or four years of your life.

The Advice Centre is one of HUU’s most important services. With daily drop-in sessions, this is the first point of call for many students requiring advice on money and debt, financial aid, loans, grants and bursaries, housing, tenancy, rent arrears, welfare benefits, tax credits and disability benefits. The information we provide is up-to-date from the Citizens Advice Bureau, ensuring you receive the best advice possible. We also work closely with a number of agencies, so if we can’t give you the information you need we can confidentially direct your requirements to someone who can. The Advice Centre also provides food parcels for those in financial hardship, ensuring no student goes hungry. The Advice Centre is located on the 3rd floor of the Students’ Union and has open drop-in sessions 11am – 3pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays throughout term-time.

Our Job Exchange service can help youi get a part-time job whilst you are studying. Increasing your employability is a fantastic thing to do whilst at University and getting a part-time job is an excellent way of doing just that. Last year alone the Job Exchange helped hundreds of students find suitable work within a huge range of sectors. We are here to help you find a wide variety of part-time, temporary or vacation work with local and national student friendly employers. This is also a great way to enhance your student experience by meeting new people and developing your prospects.
