We don’t talk about sexual abuse enough. That’s not ok.

The awareness week was established to give an opportunity for the general public, statutory and third sector organisations to participate in a discussion about sexual abuse and sexual violence. During the week people raise awareness about sexual abuse and sexual violence and how to prevent it in the UK. In order to mark this important event, the Health and Wellbeing team have arranged for a variety of our key external partners to promote their services, whilst offering advice and guidance to students throughout the working week, on the ground floor of Student Central.

Blue Door (support for those that have experienced sexual violence) will be available each day from 10-2, with the Sexual Assault Referral Centre, having a presence on the Monday and Wednesday also.

Women’s Aid (domestic abuse) will be present on Wednesday morning and Thursday afternoon, as will MESMAC (sexual health).

In addition to this promotional event, all of the above services are available during most weeks of the semester, to provide specialist support for students.

The Health and Wellbeing team do hope you will be able to visit Student Central during the week to show your support.
