Hull University Union is aware of a situation with Childreach International that has caused them to pause operations, possibly impacting some of our student fundraisers. Childreach International is currently working with partners, on the next steps and what the current situation means to existing fundraisers.
HUU’s RAG committee is in contact with Childreach international to find the best solution moving forward and is holding a meeting at 6pm this evening in TR4 in the library to support students and take any questions you wish to be passed onto Childreach. At this time, RAG and HUU have limited information. If you would like to contact the organisation directly, you can also send questions to email@example.com.
We will communicate any updates on this topic regularly.
Update - 16/02/18
Earlier this week we found out that Childreach International, a charity whose trips our students have been going on for over 10 years, was to cease operations due to financial difficulties.
30 students were in the process of fundraising to climb Kilimanjaro and Machu Picchu with Childreach. We are working with them and a potential new organisation who have agreed to waive the £345 registration fee they have lost and help them begin to raise money again. To help all those affected the door proceeds from next week’s Tower event will be given to those wishing to register for a new trip.
