We’ve recently seen lots of fresher’s events going up on Facebook for September 2018 and, whilst it’s exciting, we wanted to give you a bit of a heads up….
A lot of the pages are not real fresher’s events! Some of them are business pages that use ‘Freshers’ as a way of getting your data from Facebook for marketing purposes, some get you to ‘like/join’ a group and then will totally change the event.
A few of them may even get you to pay money or buy a ticket - we don’t want you to buy a ticket to an event that simply doesn’t exist.
So, how do you know if an event is an official HUU event? There are some key things to look out for:
• All official Hull University Union events are branded as ‘WelcomeFest’ - not Freshers.
• The events will have Hull University Unions’ official logo on them.
• You can only purchase tickets through the Hull University Union website.
• If it's a club night (not at Asylum) - make sure you buy through the official ticket sellers.
WelcomeFest will be on the 15th – 29th September 2018; with fairs, Give-It-a-Go events, nightclub events in Asylum and loads more going on around campus. Wristbands are not yet on sale, but keep updated on our social channels for when you can bag one.
