Yorkshire Sculpture Park, located just outside Wakefield, is an international centre for modern and contemporary art inspired by the natural beauty of the historic 18th-century Bretton Estate. A trip to the park is a fantastic day out and there is never a better time to visit than Autumn as the surrounding countryside and eighteenth century estate parkland provides a stunning backdrop to the amazing works situated within it. Although there are indoor spaces at YSP, the majority of the park is outdoor with beautiful walks and trails around the parkland, so please dress for the weather and wear suitable footwear.
On this trip you’ll be able to catch the last of the iconic KAWS outdoor exhibition, the highlight of 2016 at YSP, with his immense and visually stunning outdoor sculptures on display until November 2016. Brooklyn-based KAWS is considered one of the most relevant artists of his generation. Within the Pop Art tradition, he has created a prolific body of influential work, which both engages young people with contemporary art and straddles the worlds of art and design to include street art, graphic and product design, paintings, murals and large-scale sculptures.
Discover more than 60 sculptures in the open air by internationally acclaimed artists, including Elisabeth Frink, Andy Goldsworthy, Henry Moore and James Turrell as well as optional indoor exhibitions which may incur an additional cost and are not included in the price of this trip.
