Give it a Go - Craftivism

!!! Free Event !!!

A HUGE RANGE OF CRAFTS TO TRY OUT FOR FREE! MAKE AND TAKE AND MEET OTHERS!

Event Description

Join HUU student officers and staff in the WelcomeFest marquee to find out more about HUU, whilst experiencing how craft can be used as a tool to help us connect, challenge ourselves and grow.

Craftivism – crafty activism – is a kind of slow activism that can change the participant as much as it does the world. It’s a way of expressing thoughts and ideas on topical issues that matter to you.

This year at HUU, we aim to encourage more students to understand and engage with the democratic structure and processes which enable the Students’ Union movement to work to improve lives of all students. Voting in elections, running student led campaigns, becoming a Course Rep and getting involved in the day to day running of your Students’ Union is an amazing way you can directly and positively impact on your own student experience.

With so many changes to Higher Education in recent years, including the ongoing rise in student fees, the Teaching Excellence Framework, changes to visas for International Students, cuts to postgraduate research opportunities, the impact of Brexit on European funding to research within HE, how do you feel about being a student in 2017?

Talented local Artists will support you as you explore mini placard making, cross stitch, modelling, key rings, fridge magnets and other crafty activity with a message in this free, drop in event.

No need to book.
